Welcome to DIYDS (Do It Your Damn Self). A series where I share ways to make your beauty routine a little easier and your wallet a whole lot fuller.
Now that summer is on the way, most of us will be trading in our jackets for tank tops. If we’re going to be showing more skin, we’re going to have to do something about those dry patches. Here’s a simple way to make your own face and body scrub with ingredients that are, most likely, already in your pantry. This is also great to do before (fake) tanning.
What you’ll need:
- A small bowl
- Sugar (yes, plain ol’ sugar)
- Olive oil (or sweet almond oil, or safflower oil, or any other plant oil that you like)
- If you prefer a less oily scrub, use water instead of oil
What to do:
- Note: I find it easiest to do the first two steps in the kitchen and then the rest in the shower. This may seem obvious to most, but I just want to be as specific as possible.
- Pour some sugar in your bowl. I can’t tell you an exact amount to use because not everyone is the same size. So, you’re going to have to do a bit of experimenting on this part. You usually need less than you think.
- Slowly add just enough oil (or water) to make a thick paste.
- Take that concoction and scrub yourself sexy using small, circular motions.
- Rinse
- Moisturize! If you used oil for this scrub, you may not have to, but if you used water then you should definitely do it!
See? Easy as pie. Actually, making this scrub is way easier than making pie!
Enjoy your summer ready skin AND the extra bucks in your wallet! Or, you can spend the extra money on a new lip gloss. I’ve had my eye on Fierce & Fabulous Lipglass myself
I hope your week is off to a great start
